A home in Newmarket, Ontario had a front and side walkway that had sunk over the years. The walkway and shed along the side of the house had sunk 2.5 inches which were causing a similar issue with the step leading into the garage. The side walkway was sloping away, but the customer was concerned about the height of the step and the potential for further settlement. The step height was very high and posed a serious trip hazard. With water pooling on the walkway, there was also a slip hazard in the winter when the water would freeze.
The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling and talked to John DiNicolantonio, our Project Manager to explain what would be done to fix the issues. Billy McKeown and Kyle McKeown, our Poly Foremen, came in and drilled small dime sized holes through the concrete and used our PolyLevel® Injection underneath the slabs. The foam followed the path of least resistance underneath the concrete to fill all of the voids and then expanded. We were able to use the expansion of the foam to lift the walkways and protect them from further settlement. The PolyLevel injection lifted and leveled both the front and side walkways. The steps are now much more manageable and water no longer pools on the front walkway. The customer is satisfied and feels safe to use the walkways and are also very happy that they will no longer need to patch up areas of concrete that have settled.
As our parents grow older, we cherish the time spent with them more and more. Whether it’s going out for dinner to celebrate a birthday, or only getting together for a coffee, it’s always nice to share a moment.
Unfortunately for customers in Newmarket, Ontario, hazardous front steps made it hard for their elderly parents to visit. The concrete slab had settled over the years, causing the step to be higher than the building code. Worried for the safety of their family, the customers set up a free inspection.
Project Manager Paul Mendell met with the customers and introduced them to our unique repair processes. Our Production Department set up a date, and Foreman Kyle McKeown completed the repairs. Kyle injected PolyLevel® High-Density Polymer to lift and stabilize the front steps, eliminating the tripping hazard and bringing the steps back to code.
The customers are thrilled they no longer need to worry about their elderly parents tripping. They have peace of mind and can’t wait until the next family dinner.
Keeping your home in great shape is a priority for most homeowners. Not only does it prevent repairs, but it gives us a sense of pride. Many different elements can threaten our homes, however, and sometimes repairs need to be made, regardless of how well the home is kept up.
Customers in Newmarket, Ontario, were concerned about water seeping into their basement. They have a concrete slab walkway along the side of their home, but settlement had caused the slabs to slope towards the home’s foundation. Looking to prevent any problems rather than fix them, the customers met with Project Manager Paul Mendell. Paul discussed how we could eliminate the issue, and the customers happily agreed.
Foreman Kyle McKeown used our PolyLevel® Process to lift along the entire side of the slabs, removing the slope towards the foundation. After the lift was complete, NexusPro® was applied to seal any cracks and prevent moisture from gaining access beneath the concrete.
The customer is delighted that their home is protected once again, and they love how the NexusPro® Sealant turned out.
Many people have been using their pools more than ever this year. We can’t travel around due to COVID-19, so people have been bringing their backyards back to life.
A customer in Ajax, Ontario, has had sinking concrete in his backyard for close to six years. He had been using the pool more than ever this summer, so the concrete was becoming more of an issue and he was concerned what would happen in the future.
After meeting with Project Manager Kyle O’Brien and seeing our solution, the customer was eager to set up a date for the repair.
Foreman Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes throughout the concrete slabs. He used these holes as injection ports for our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane, which expands below the surface. This lifts the concrete and compresses any fill soils, helping to prevent the issue from returning.
The customer is happy that his pool deck is level and safe. “From my initial call to yourself (Mary), then Kyle coming out to give me a quote to Bill completing the work - all of you have been so helpful and professional and a total pleasure to work with and the results are amazing - Better than I even expected,” he said.
A plaza manager has many behind-the-scenes tasks along with managing tenant and customer needs. They ensure everything is safe and in proper working order.
A building manager in Ajax, Ontario, received a few complaints from tenants about sinking concrete in front of the parking lot. The area became a tripping hazard and a troublesome spot for pooling water.
Project Manager Joe McColl inspected the concrete at the strip mall. Joe explained to the customer that voids under the slab make the concrete sink. The customer did not want to deal with the expensive hassle of new concrete and closing the stores for a few days.
To his delight, the manager learned he could leave the stores open during the installation and use the concrete later the same day. Joe explained how our PolyLevel® System repairs the concrete using high-density polyurethane injections. This solution is non-invasive – a 300-foot hose pumps polyurethane to voids under the concrete.
Foreman Bill McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. As he injects the polyurethane beneath the slabs, the concrete lifts back to grade level while compressing fill soils below. All spaces and cavities are filled fixing the concrete issues permanently.
The building manager truly appreciates how efficient the installation was executed. He didn’t need to close down the building, and his tenants are happy their customers can use a safe walkway.
