Busted Your Lip

One thing we can never seem to have enough of is storage space. Every inch of our basements, crawl spaces, attics and garages are all filled to the brim with stuff. Gathering is simply a natural human instinct and, in most cases, should be embraced. Staying prepared and proactive are important qualities to possess in a country like Canada. Canada has two extreme seasons that require drastically different footwear, clothing, and hobbies, hence our constant need for “stuff.” Like golfing in the winter or skiing in the summer, we must adapt our approach constantly to the changing weather season by season. Some climates are lucky enough to have one static season; for example, skiing in the Caribbean is unheard of, but golfing in February is wholly embraced. The people living in these relatively static environments have the fortunate luxury of sticking to one outfit, sport, and hobby all year round. Canadians, on the other hand, do not have that luxury, far from it.

Your storage space must be dry, clean, and accessible to you and your belongings. This customer in Toronto was experiencing cracking and heaving in their garage floor creating a large lip right through the middle of the space. Concerned about continued safe access and use of their storage area, they required a solution.

Initially the customer consulted with our Project Manager Kyle O’Brien, who answered any questions the customer may have been curious about. He then developed a custom non-invasive solution using our PolyLevel® technology to level their garage floor. Once the customer has approved the solution; the specifics and details of the project were forwarded over to our Installation Specialists.

After showing up early on-site to explain the process thoroughly to the customer, foreman Bill McKeown and his team began their installation of our unique and patented PolyLevel® system. After drilling small, dime-size holes into the garage floor, our polyurethane material is injected underneath the concrete. Following the path of least resistance, this strong material fills in gaps and voids, slowly and securely raising the entire slab of concrete. Once this process is complete, the initial holes are filled in, returning the concrete to its original look. The customer can now faithfully use their space to store their items without being concerned for their safety.

Poor Fill Soils Lead to Brand-New Driveway Sinking in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Building a custom home is an exciting endeavour. Not only are you making a significant life decision, but you also get to build your dream home to your liking.

A customer in Richmond Hill, Ontario, had just finished having his custom home built. He added in a beautiful patterned concrete driveway, but the substrate below was never adequately prepared. His brand-new driveway was already sinking, and he wanted to remedy the problem.

Unsure of who to turn to, he called Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Paul Mendell. Paul showed the customer how we could efficiently fix his driveway, and a date was set for the repair.

Foreman Bill McKeown used our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane to lift the driveway in several spots. PolyLevel® expands under pressure, raising the slabs and compressing the poorly prepared substrate.

The customer is thrilled that his driveway is fixed. He can finally enjoy his custom home, knowing his driveway is safe and protected.

Guests Complain About Sinking Front Steps in Richmond Hill, Ontario

When you have company over, the last thing you want is for them to trip and fall before they even make it into your house.

A customer in Richmond Hill, Ontario, decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling after hearing visitors' complaints about their front steps. The concrete was settling, which created a considerable trip hazard right in front of the main door.

Project Manager Joe McColl travelled to the home and inspected the front walkway. The step was sinking evenly, so Joe determined the cause was poor fill materials. As these soils erode and wash away over time, it makes room for the step to sink. Joe showed the customer a demonstration video of how our PolyLevel® System uses expanding polyurethane injections to lift the steps back to a safe grade.

Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. He used these holes as injection ports for our high-density polyurethane. Kyle carefully installed the solution while ensuring the steps lifted evenly. Once the repair was complete, Kyle patched the holes with fresh concrete.

The customer is happy his guests no longer complain every time they come over. His investment is protected, and he's comfortable knowing our solution comes with a warranty.

Garage Floor Leveled and Sealed, Richmond Hill, ON

A homeowner in Richmond Hill, ON, was very concerned about their concrete garage floor. There was a crack along one side, and it appeared the concrete was sinking. Somehow water was flowing through the crack creating hollow areas or voids under the concrete affecting the integrity of the rest of the floor. The homeowner became very worried the situation would rapidly get worse. The floor needed to be fixed soon as the homeowner was preparing to put the house up for sale.

The homeowner decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling to find out what options were available. Our Project Lead met with the homeowner and discussed the benefits of our PolyLevel® Injection System. Our installation team injected PolyLevel under the garage floor to lift and stabilize the concrete. NexusPro® was also used to seal the crack to prevent water from leaking under the floor.

The homeowner was so happy with the project – the garage floor looked better than they could have ever imagined making the home, and garage, ready to put on the market.

Sinking Concrete Lifted & Leveled in King City, ON

A new home in King City, ON had a year-old garage floor. It had started to sink over 3 inches! Since the soils around the house were still fairly loose when the floor was poured, the weight of the concrete compressed the soil, the garage floor started to sink.

The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling to find out if we offered a better solution than re-pouring the concrete. Our Project Lead met with the homeowners and presented a solution that would provide a permanent fix for the floor.

Our foreman, Billy McKeown used our patented PolyLevel™ Injection System to lift and level the concrete.

The customer was happy that Canadian Concrete Leveling was able to fix the concrete without having to rip up and re-pour a new floor. They were extremely pleased with the outcome and were also happy that the area is under warranty for 10 years.
