A concerned homeowner reached out to us due to persistent water infiltration issues in their barn. The barn's floor was severely deteriorated, lacking proper slope for water drainage, and offering insufficient storage accessibility. To address these problems effectively, we embarked on a comprehensive restoration project. Here's how we tackled it:
Creating Proper Drainage: We began by excavating the areas in front of the barn doors to establish the required slope for efficient water management and better utilization of the space.
Forming the Foundation: After achieving the correct depth, we meticulously constructed 2x10 wooden forms to shape the concrete foundation. These forms served as the framework for our concrete work.
Enhancing Structural Integrity: Ensuring long-term stability and strength, we strategically placed both vertical and horizontal rebar, providing the necessary structural support for the concrete slabs.
Pouring New Slabs: With our preparations complete, we proceeded to pour two fresh concrete slabs—one outside the front barn doors and one outside the back barn doors. These slabs would be instrumental in resolving the water infiltration issue.
Barn-Wide Restoration: Our efforts extended to pouring a new concrete slab throughout the entire barn, revitalizing the entire space.
With this comprehensive project completed, the barn has been restored to its former glory. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it is also now a fully functional space, free from the constant threat of water damage. The homeowners are delighted with their investment in restoring the barn's functionality and appearance.
Our success in transforming this barn demonstrates the importance of addressing foundational issues to create a safe, functional, and visually appealing space. After living in their home for several months these homeowners realized that they were having issues with their foundation, as well as water and humidity in their home. Because of these reasons, they contacted Basement Systems of New York to see what could be done in order to take care of the issues at hand.
In order to fix the problems that they were having we had to install several different systems that would tie into one cohesive unit. The systems that we ended up using to make this home more comfortable were CleanSpace, WaterGuard, Drainage Matting, and a new slab. By implementing these different systems in their home we have been able to improve the overall health of their home.
Since installing our systems the homeowner has noticed nothing but a sense of relief that they now have a comfortable home that they never want to leave.
Due to the low rates and everyone looking to sell during Coronavirus this gentleman was looking to purchase this home. During their inspection process, they were advised to have the foundation inspected as it had both multiple signs of cracks and water entering from the wall-floor joints, and coming up through the slab due to hydrostatic pressure. Once our Specialist had evaluated their basement we were able to explain to them that they had not only a water problem but also structural issues.
In order to fix these problems for the new homeowner, we needed to install a myriad of systems to make sure that their home is sound both from water and from falling over. In order to do this, we needed to form and pour four feet of concrete in the room with damaged walls and then install a new four-inch-thick steel I-beam with three SmartJacks with weight distribution plates. This system will alleviate any and all structural problems that they are currently having or that they will have in the foreseeable future.
Next, we installed Flo-Guard/Delta Drain waterproofing system around the main perimeter of basement with a new slab foundation with a bump-out, which was complemented with a lateral and corner basin which would lead to our TripleSafe sump pump system. Finally, we placed our vapor barrier, CleanSpace on the walls to redirect any and all moisture that would form behind it to the sump pump and out of the home. This intricate waterproofing system will keep them dry for years to come, as well as their home extremely comfortable and free of smells.
This gentleman found us by performing a basic google search in order to make his home more comfortable and functional. In the end, he decided to have us perform the work due to our previous projects, as well as the reviews that we had received from those previous projects best reviews. Since these systems have been implemented their new home has become somewhere that they do not want to leave and that they are certain will always have more than enough space for them.
In addition to building a new foundation for this Gardiner home, our Basement Systems crew poured a new, level concrete floor for the garage.
Our Basement Systems crews have many years of experience working with concrete and other building materials. They make sure that the structure is structurally sound and will last through years of use.
