In Mesa, Arizona, a homeowner reached out to Arizona Foundation Solutions after noticing unsightly cracks in their concrete driveway. They were concerned that these cracks were allowing moisture to seep beneath the slab, which could potentially worsen the problem by softening or washing away the underlying soil. The homeowner initially tried using urethane caulk from a local hardware store, but the cracks reappeared due to Arizona’s intense weather conditions and the caulk's susceptibility to drying, cracking, and bubbling.
Nevaeh, the Customer Care Representative, booked an appointment for the homeowner with Eduardo, the Design Specialist. Eduardo conducted a thorough inspection and identified the need for a more permanent solution to protect the concrete slab and prevent further damage caused by soil compaction and moisture seepage.
After the Project
Under the supervision of Eli, the Foreman, the crew arrived on-site and quickly got to work using the advanced NexusPro solution. This silicone-based sealant was carefully applied to the cracks after the crew drilled, smoothed, and prepared the areas with a non-absorbent backer rod filler. The NexusPro was then injected into the cracks, ensuring a durable, long-lasting seal. To finish, a layer of native sand was applied to blend the sealed areas with the surrounding concrete, giving the slab a uniform look.
Thanks to the NexusPro solution, the cracks were effectively sealed, protecting the homeowner's driveway from further damage due to moisture and Arizona’s extreme weather. The homeowner was impressed with the quick curing time—just 60 minutes—and the fact that the sealant is resistant to UV rays, ensuring it will not crack or bubble over time. The installation was completed within the same day, providing the homeowner with peace of mind knowing their concrete slab was protected for years to come.
Now, the homeowner enjoys a flawless driveway, free from cracks and the worry of weeds or moisture causing further issues.
This is caused by chloride ion exchange in the moisture-laden pores of the concrete that facilitates the oxidization of the rebar. Once started, it's very difficult to stop with traditional means. Sealing the crack with epoxy will not stop the rebar from continuing to oxidize and expand.
