To a person - from the initial visit with the technician who gave us the estimate to the crew who did the work - everybody was friendly, professional, and was willing to stop and explain things to me patiently and in a way I could understand it. No other contracting service that I've done business with has come close in regards to these attributes. Working with Basement Doctor was a great experience!
I don't know her name (it sounded like a female), but she called to tell us that work could begin on our basement sooner than we expected. She was very nice and very professional.
Walter Fanthorp is the reason we ended up choosing to do business with the Basement Doctor. He conducted the third estimate we had done. While the other sales people/technicians were cordial and professional, Mr. Fanthorp went above and beyond. He did not complain about the idiosyncrasies of our basement like the other companies' reps did; rather he stated his opinion of the required solution in a straightforward manner. He also showed me a video of the water guard technology as well as how houses are built at the foundation and basement level - no one else ever came close to helping me understand how water was likely getting in the basement. He was also friendly and down-to-earth, and easy to talk to, and , unlike the sales reps from other companies we spoke with, he actually smiled a a lot and appeared to really enjoy his work and believe in his company. He did a great job building a relationship with me in a short amount of time, and as a result, I felt really good about giving my business to Basement Doctor.
Terr Steele and his crew were awesome. They installed a water guard on the inside of one basement wall, put in a trench line to the sump pit (which is located in the middle of our basement), replaced the sump pump and backup, and rerouted the sump and downspout discharge using CVC pipe away from the house. I can't say enough positive things about Terry and his crew. They arrived on time, worked the entire day, were friendly, respectful of the house when moving equipment and debris to and from the house, were willing to explain things to me with no condescension or exasperation at all. Furthermore, they appeared to work well together as a team - there was not one cross word spoken among them that I heard; they all worked hard, helped each other, deferred to Terry when needed and operated as one cohesive and efficient unit. They installed everything we were contracted for, and did it with minimal disturbance to our basement given the job (they had to dig through and work in some small spaces). I can't say enough positive things about this crew!
Terry's crew cleaned up everything very well - there was no debris left behind, and they were respectful of the house throughout the job as well.
I originally found out about the company through an internet search. But, as I mentioned above, I chose this company largely due to the professionalism and friendliness of Mr. Fanthorp as well as his proposed solution to our basement water issue. In addition I was impressed with the water guard technology, and felt that would suit our needs as water was seeping into the basement at times through one particular wall, and the price was lower than that quoted by other companies on the order two grand or so (not to mention the 8% discount Mr. Fanthorp gave us for signing on in December). For all of these reasons (and above all due to the courtesy and professionalism of Mr. Fanthorp), we decided to choose the Basement Doctor.
