Concrete starts out durable, rigid, and weighty, making it a great material for residential patios and driveways to warehouse floors. Over time, the level soil underneath the concrete begins to shift with changes in the moisture content in the ground. Soil movement causes voids under the concrete and because concrete is heavy, it starts to sink. Because it’s rigid and inflexible, it starts to crack. Soil movement occurs in a variety of ways, including:
Soil movement is bound to occur, but the damage sunken concrete leaves behind doesn’t have to be permanent. Trusted concrete leveling solutions can easily help resolve such issues.
Mudjacking, also called slab jacking, is a well-known technique for lifting uneven concrete to a level position. Compared to using foam to lift and level concrete, mudjacking has several drawbacks that Chapel Hill homeowners should know. One major disadvantage is that mudjacking doesn’t address the underlying causes of sunken concrete. It's also messy and disruptive and often damaging to property and landscaping.
If you notice your concrete starting to crack or settle, don’t wait for it to get worse! Call your PolyLevel® concrete leveling expert serving Chapel Hill, NC and nearby towns. To permanently lift and restore your concrete, schedule a free estimate today!

Comment: I've got a relatively small project that I could use some help with. The concrete slab walkway that leads to my front door has had some of the underlay material wash away due to poor drainage. There is now a 2-3 inch void underneath the concrete in roughly a 6 foot by 20 inch section of the concrete. The sidewalk is intact and has a barely perceptible drop- maybe up to an inch on one side. Can this issue be fixed economically? Thank you for your thoughts!

Comment: We have two locations that need some attention. Our house was built around 1990 and some outside concrete settling has occurred. 1. The pad in front of our garage has cracked and the left half has settled bout about 2" at the far LH side. 2. We have a section of sidewalk in our front yard that has settled, creating a gap of about 1.5" at the joint. Would like to know if both of these locations would be suitable for leveling and a rough order of magnitude cost.
